Call to Order: Chair John Staub called the meeting of the Architectural
Review Board to order at 8:00 p.m. with the following present:

Lynn Michaelson-Cohn.
Members Absent: One position unfilled.
Also Present: Village Manager David Lothspeich and
Village Superintendent Bob Block

1. Approval
of July 15, 2002 Meeting Minutes. Commissioner
Hoyne moved, seconded by Commissioner deGrazia, to approve the July 15, 2002
meeting minutes with the deletion of the third sentence from the bottom of Item
#4. On a voice vote the motion was
unanimously approved.
2. Consideration
of a Request for Approval of a Temporary Sign, Submitted by Creations by
Momme’. The petitioner requested the temporary approval in
order to have an approved sign by their opening date and to allow them time to
develop a permanent design. Following a
brief discussion, Commissioner
Hoyne moved, seconded by Commissioner deGrazia, to grant temporary approval of the proposed sign (white
background, black italic letters same
size and shape of sign replacing) subject to review of the permanent sign no
later than November 15, 2002. On a voice vote the motion
was unanimously approved.
3. Consideration of Review of Preliminary Indian Valley Golf Course Home Designs for Compliance with the Anti-monotony Code, Submitted by Concord Homes. Representing Concord Homes was Dan O’Malley, Architect, and Concord Homes Representative James Vanderploeg.
Conceptual Home Design - 523-K.
Noting a preference for cedar shake or other natural roofing materials versus asphalt shingles, Commissioner Michaelson-Cohn moved, seconded by Commissioner deGrazia, for conceptual approval of the preliminary home design #523-K subject to final approval of the exterior materials. On a voice vote, the motion was unanimously approved.
Conceptual Home Design - 524-L.
Restating their preference for cedar shake or other natural roofing materials versus asphalt shingles,
Commissioner Michaelson-Cohn moved, seconded by Commissioner Hoyne, for conceptual approval of the preliminary home design #524-L subject to final approval of the exterior materials. On a voice vote, the motion was unanimously approved.
Conceptual Home Design - 525-J.
Noting concerns with the layout of the bedroom windows shown in the right elevation and concerns with the left (side) elevation and expressing a preference for “natural materials”, Commissioner Michaelson-Cohn moved, seconded by Commissioner Hoyne, for conceptual approval of the preliminary home design #525-J subject to final approval of the exterior materials. On a voice vote, the motion was unanimously approved.
Conceptual Home Design - 521-J.
Commissioner deGrazia moved, seconded by Commissioner Michaelson-Cohn, for conceptual approval of the preliminary home design #521-J, with a preference for a single exterior material and brick chimney, subject to final approval of the exterior materials. On a voice vote, the motion was unanimously approved.
Conceptual Home Design - 522-J.
With the suggestion that the intermix stone be used on all four elevations, Commissioner Michaelson-Cohn moved, seconded by Commissioner Hoyne, for conceptual approval of the preliminary home design #522-J subject to final approval of the exterior materials. On a voice vote, the motion was unanimously approved.
Conceptual Home Design - 520-J.
Noting concerns with the left elevation (two-car garage roofline) and right and rear elevations,
Commissioner Michaelson-Cohn moved, seconded by Commissioner Hoyne, to continue review of the preliminary home design #522-J. On a voice vote, the motion was unanimously approved.
4. Adjournment:
Commissioner Hoyne moved, seconded by Commissioner deGrazia
to adjourn the meeting. On a voice vote the motion was unanimously approved. Meeting adjourned at 9:40 PM.
