MEETING MINUTES

Minutes from meeting on April 18, 2007 were reviewed.  Warren Schmitt moved to approve; Lee Bassett seconded.  All members voted to approve. Motion carried.

APPLICATIONS

07-01    Zhu and Shao, 4803 R.F.D.  Lee and Warren visited the property on Saturday, April 28, 2007.  Part of the conservancy areas cuts across their front lawn.  Warren explained to the committee that this is too small an area to be treated as a conservancy. A long discussion followed.  The area is connected to the conservancy across the road and to the conservancy on the other side of the driveway.  With proper plantings, this could be an attractive area that could compliment the home.  Jim will ask the attorney for an opinion about changing or amending the ordinance to deal with small areas.

07-02   Sommers 1744 R.F.D.  This application is to add native maple trees to his conservancy area.  The trees will be Acer nigrum and Acer saccharum.  Kelley moved to recommend to the Village Board approval of  this application as submitted.  Lee seconded.  All members present voted yes.  Motion carried.

OTHER BUSINESS

Continuation of our discussion of preparing a Conservancy/Scenic Corridor packet or brochure for the residents.

The committee would like to meet with the Plan Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals to review with them what our ordinance requires. Each member of the Committee  prepared a brief outline of information to include in a presentation to the Plan Commission and ZBA.  This info could also be used in a packet or brochure for the residents.  Discussion of possibility of a power point presentation.

Discussion of the origin of the term “woodland conservancy”.  The CSC ordinance does not seem to address this term clearly.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

Lee Bassettmoved to adjourn.  Seconded by Warren Schmitt .  All voted aye. Meeting adjourned 9:10 pm

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED
